Notes:

      Ecology: Lowland forest adjacent to the Andes; on rocks and branches in stream. Elevation: ca. 460-950 m. Distribution: Endemic to the tropical Andes (Ecuador).

      This distinctive species is only known from the type locality. This species has been treated and illustrated by Pursell et al. (1988). The aquatic habitat, combined with the emergent sporophytes, bordered restricted to the vaginant perichaetial leaves and those just below the inflorescence, are distinctive features.
