Discussion:

Mironia ehrenbergiana is distinguished from all other members of the genus by its dentate upper leaf margins. It is the only Central American species of Mironia with densely matted rhizoids in the lower parts of the stems. Bryoerythrophyllum jamesonii and Rhexophyllum subnigrum are similar to M. ehrenbergiana in size, aspect, and in having dentate upper leaf margins. Bryoerythrophyllum jamesonii differs from M. ehrenbergiana in having unistratose leaves with margins reflexed only in the lower 1/2, while R. subnigrum differs in having unistratose leaf margins, bistratose streaks or patches in the upper lamina, and a stem hyalodermis.
