This variety is distinguished by the weakly incurved broadly spathulate leaves, adaxial distal leaf cells mammillose but papillose abaxially or on both surfaces, apex apiculate or apiculus absent, and costa percurrent to subpercurrent (Zander 2007). Southeast United States (Florida), Mexico, West Indies, Central America, and South America (Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela).
