Hasta 20 m de alto. Hojas oblongo-elípticas, 8–30 cm de largo y 4–11 cm de ancho, 3-nervias desde la base, ápice obtuso a abruptamente acuminado, base redondeada, cartáceas, nervios principales escasa a menudamente estrellados. Cáliz cupuliforme, ca 2.5 cm de largo; pétalos ca 2 cm más largos que el cáliz; columna estaminal más de 5 cm de largo, partida en el ápice en lobos lineares. Fruto ovoide, 2.5–3 cm de largo, la mitad inferior envuelta por el cáliz.

Rara, pluvioselva, Río San Juan; 150–280 m; fl sep–nov, fr nov–feb; Rueda 8735, 9142; Nicaragua hasta la Amazonia.
