Description
|
Small trees and shrubs. Flowers sessile, 5-merous, mostly perfect with occa- sional staminate in terminal panicles of elongated spikes with additional spikes in the axils of the upper leaves. Receptacle infundibuliform, scarcely produced beyond the ovary, with 2 small adnate bracteoles near the apex and crowned with the persistent calyx. Petals 5, small. Stamens 10, biseriate, not exserted. Disk l0-rayed. Style subulate, capitate at the apex. Ovary unilocular with 2 pendulous ovules. Fruit almost sessile, longitudinally ribbed or narrowly winged, pericarp leathery.
