Perennials. Leaf-blades flat. Inflorescence a lax panicle. Spikelets usually 2-flowered, sometimes 1-or 3-flowered, subterete; glumes unequal, shorter than the spikelet, thin, the lower nerveless, the upper prominently (1-)3-nerved, glabrous; lemmas oblong when flattened, rounded on the back, membranous with a scarious apex, prominently 3-nerved; palea 2-keeled, similar in texture to the lemma; stamens 3.
