Notes:
Pentodon is similar to Oldenlandia, Kohautia, and Astiella, but can be separated from those and similar genera by its 5 calyx lobes, corollas lobes, and stamens. Pentodon is generally circumscribed to include about 2 species (Verdcourt 1976), with one of these widespread in Africa, occasional in Madagascar, and adventive in the New World generally around the Caribbean basin.
