Annual-perennial, decumbent - erect, simple or branched from base herbs. Stem mostly present, sometimes absent, canaliculate. Leaves basal as well as cauline, sessile - long petiolate. Inflorescence long or short pedunclad, axillary or terminal. Flowers 4-5 merous pedicellate. Pedicel short or long. Calyx 4-5 lobed, lobes always longer than tube or tube absent, equal. or unequal. Corolla 4-5 lobed, rotate, lobes parted almost to the base or tube absent, pale blue, blue, purplish, violet or white with a tinge above, lobes fimbriate, fimbriae in group of two or one, but without any nectaries or pits. Stamens corresponding to the number of corolla lobes, filament linear, subulate or dilated at base, anthers globose, minute or comparatively large. Ovary sessile, bicarpellary, unilocular, stigma sessile. Capsule sessile, ellipsoid, many seeded. Seeds small, reddish brown, reticulated or smooth.
