General/Distribution: A genus with 10 species found in the Mediterranean region, Afghanistan, S.W.& E. Asia, Tropical Africa, Southern USA and Guatemala. Represented in Pakistan by 4 species.

Dioecious trees or shrubs. Leaves compound, trifoliolate, rarely unifoliolate, exstipulate. Inflorescence an axillary raceme or panicle. Flowers small, apetalous. Male flowers with 3-6(-7) stamens. Disk present. Female flowers bracteate. Styles 3, short. Fruit a 1-seeded drupe, often compressed.
