Nomenclature Reason: Geocardia was published as an avowed replacement name for Geophila D. Don, which was an illegitimate later homonym, but another replacement name, Carinta, had been previously published for that same genus was Geocardia was a superfluous name. Later, Geophila D. Don was formally conserved, so Geocardia is now rejected because it was based on the same type as Geophila D. Don (Art. 14.4)
