Plants
perennial, homosporous. Rhizomes creeping, often branched, the leaves not
clustered. Leaves deeply, pinnately lobed (undivided to fully compound
elsewhere). Sori circular to oblong, the sporangia attached to the thickened
end of short vein-branches, lacking indusia. Sporangia with the annulus an
interrupted, vertical ring of cells. Spores monolete, 35–80 mm in length, golden
yellow. Gametophytes green, flat, obcordate to kidney-shaped. About 100
species, worldwide.
