General/Distribution: A Mediterranean, Central and West Asian genus of about 30 species.

Perennial, herbaceous, glabrous to papillose. Leaves (3)-4-6-pinnate. Involu¬cre and involucel of linear bracts and bractlets. Calyx teeth conspicuous or obso¬lete. Fruit oblong to globose; ridges winged, spongy, transversely folded; vittae numerous. Inner seed face concave to deeply grooved.
