The identity of this name has been interpreted variously by different authors over the last several centuries. In general, it is clearly a synonym of Breonia based on the identity of its type species (Bosser, 1984), but it has been applied to two other, Asian species of trees now called Neolamarckia (Ridsdale, 1978).
