Description
|
Dioecious trees. Leaves alternate, distichous; stipules fully amplexicaul. Staminate inflorescences in discoid involucrate heads of numerous extremely re- duced flowers represented by a solitary stamen with an oblongoid basifixed anther and an extremely vestigial perianth, intermingled with more prominent spatulate bracteoles. Pistillate flowers solitary with an involucre of several closely imbricated bracts, perigynous or epigynous; perianth tubular with 4 minute dentate lobes; stigma narrowly 2-lobed, widely exserted. Fruit a false drupe subtended by the persistent involucre.
