General/Distribution : A genus of about 90 species in the Old World tropics. 2 species have been reported from Pakistan.

Lianas, perennial. Leaves petiolate, glabrous or pubescent, variable in size and shape. Flowers in usually bracteate, axillary, few- to many-flowered cymes. Sepals often pubescent outside, slightly to much enlarged in fruit. Corolla campanulate, infundibuliform or tubular, the limb entire to deeply lobed, the interplicae pubescent. Stamens included or exserted. The stigmas bi-globose. Fruits ellipsoid to globose, fleshy, leathery or mealy berries.
