Notes :

Literature: Iljin M.M., Novyi rod Hammada Iljin, Bot. Zhurn. 33: 582-583 (1948). Iljin M.M., Chenopodiaceae novae e Palaestina, in Novit. Syst. Pl. Vasc. 71-75 (1964).

The taxonomic position of four shrubby species related to the arboreal Haloxylon have been changed since 1948, when Iljin described the genus Hammada. There has been no concensus on this issue in the floras concerning the Middle Eastern countries. Zohary (1966) included these four species in the genus Hammada. Hedge (1979), followed by Danin (2004) included the four taxa in Haloxylon. The most recent treatment of this group is by Uotila (2011) who considers these four as species of the genus Hammada. We follow here the latter perception.
