Annual to perennating herbs with lyrate pinnatifid leaves, erect, branched, + hispid with simple whitish hairs. Racemes subcorymbose, branched, ebrac¬teate, becoming lax and elongated in fruit. Flowers mediocre, yellowish or white, pedicellate. Sepals oblong, subspreading, inner pair slightly saccate at the base. Petals obovate, shortly clawed. Stamen 6; filaments linear. Lateral nectar glands inconspicuous, middle conical or prismatic. Ovary cylindrical, 1-3 ovuled, 2-parted; stigma capitate, sub-bilobed. Fruip biarticulated; upper part ± spherical with a narrow straight beak, 1-seeded, indehiscent but entirely falling off; lower part narrow, usually 1-3 seeded, dehiscent; valves somewhat rigid; seeds ovoid, larger in upper part of the pod; cotyledons conduplicate, trun¬cate.
