Description
|
Perennial herbs, often woody and profusely branching from the base. Leaves narrow, the veins conspicuous; stipules adnate to the petioles, forming a setif- erous sheath. Inflorescences axillary, epedunculate, the flowers fasciculate. Flowers with the calycine lobes 4; corolla funnelform, the lobes 4, valvate; sta- mens attached near the mouth, exserted. Fruits of 2 mericarps separating at maturity from a median septum, opening basally.
