Type Specimens

• T: Banisteria brachiata L.
• LT: Heteropterys argentea Kunth. LT designated by C. V. Morton, J. Wash. Acad. Sci. 21: 485 (Dec 1931) . The author cited Banisteria brachiata Linnaeus as the type species, but this was obviously an error, as he did not treat the species in this genus; it is in fact the type of Banisteria Linnaeus 1753.
