Shrubs. Branches opposite with stellate hairs. Leaves opposite, ovate or lanceolate, serrate. Flowers axillary, solitary or corymbose, usually white, sometimes pinkish. Sepals 5. Petals 5. Stamens 10, 5 long and 5 short, obdiplos¬temonous, filaments flattened and extended into lateral teeth on either side of the anthers. Ovary inferior, 4-3-locular; styles 4-3, free, elongated and filiform, stigmas terminal or decurrent. Seeds very light, testa winged.
