Unarmed shrubs or trees. Inflorescence panicled axillary and terminal. Flowers bisexual, minute, green, sessile or pedicellate. Calyx campanulate, 4-lobed. Corolla campanulate, 4-lobed; petals slightly connate at the base; lobes obtuse, imbricate in the bud. Disc of 4 scales or glands in between the filaments, or absent. Stamens 4, inserted at the base or in the middle of the corolla tube, filaments slightly flattened. Ovary 1-locular with 1 basal ovule; style very short or absent with broad, truncate or subpeltate stigma. Fruit a globose drupe with persistent calyx and corolla.
