General/Distribution: A genus of about 40 species found in the subtropical and the temperate regions. It is not represented in Australia and New Zealand.

Leaves petiolate to subsessile, 3-5 palmately divided; segments variously toothed. Umbels irregularly compound. Involucre of leaf-like bracts. Involucel of small to large bractlets. Umbellets polygamous or of only male flowers. Calyx teeth prominent. Fruit oblong to ovoid or subglobose, shortly pedicellate, covered with uncinate bristles; vittae few to many; commissure usually 2-vittate. Inner seed face plane to slightly concave.
