Annual, whitish pubescent herbs with simple, entire to marginally ± spinulose, linear-oblong leaves. Capitula single-flowered, each capitulum surrounded by a tuft of plumose, white hairs, aggregated in hemispherical compound heads (compound capitula) surrounded by a common involucre of foliaceous phyllaries as long as head or ± longer. Common Receptacle small, ± conical, glabrous, epaleate. Phyllaries free, multiseriate, foliaceous, densely woolly, outer pinnatisect, bristly, inner ones linear-lanceolate. Florets pink, fading to white, solitary. Corolla actinomorphic, tube short, limb cylindrical, 5-partite, lobes linear. Anthers shortly barbate at base, on free filaments. Style pilose below divergent stigmatic branches. Cypselas ellipsoid-oblong to ± obovoid, roughly 4-angled, densely hairy. Pappus uniseriate, of basally connate, short, subulate, finely dentate scales.
