Notes:
Strobilanthes, as currently defined (Carine & Scotland, 2002; Wood et al., 2003; Moylan et al., 2004), is the second largest genus of the family with c. 250 species (Carine & Scotland, 2002) and distributed in tropical and subtropical regions of Asia. The Malagasy spp belong to the genus Acanthopale and Strobilanthes species have now been formally transferred to Acanthopale in Madagascar.
