2. Ajuga L. (bugle)

About 50 species, Europe, Africa, Asia, south to Australia; introduced nearly worldwide.

In addition to the commonly grown A. reptans, A. genevensis L. (standing bugle) and A. chamaepitys (L.) Schreb. (ground pine) also are cultivated ornamentals and ground covers that escape occasionally in the United States.
