A monotypic genus, differing from Arabis by its leafless scapes, small flowers with petals hardly exceeding the sepals, middle nectar glands absent or rudimen¬tary, minute subsessile or sessile stigma, and siliquae short, ± curved above. Arabis

Looks more like some of the genera of the tribe Sisymbrieae, such as Arabi¬dopsis, in smaller flowers and fruit but the radicle accumbent. However, Busch (in Kom, l.c.) included it under Arabidopsis. Amalgamation of these 2 genera and the transference of Arabidopsis to the tribe Arabideae will probably be a right solution. However, this problem needs further critical studies (see note under Arabidopsis also).
