8. Dracocephalum L. (dragonhead)

About 45 species, North America, Europe Asia.

Some Old World species of Dracocephalum are cultivated as ornamental annuals in portions of the United States, notably D. moldavica L. (Moldavica punctata Moench) and D. thymiflorum L., but none of these has been reported to escape in Missouri thus far. Note that in some of the older botanical literature, species of the related genus Physostegia have mistakenly been called Dracocephalum.
