Notes: Jongkind (1995) placed this genus in synonymy under Combretum, and provided some, but not all of the necessary new combinations. In a later contribution, Jongkind & Callmander (2023) have provided three more new combinations, re-instated Combretum sphaeroides (Tul.) Jongkind and described a single new species. According to the latter authors the two species remaining in Calopyxis also require transfer to Combretum.
