Terrestrial, perennial herbs. Rhizome short or long, creeping, vertical or ascending, with few, usually hairy scales. Leaves long-petioled, all similar, with more or less pinnatipartite segments, mostly more or less pubescent; veins free. Sori near margin of segment, small, almost orbicular, sometimes confluent at maturity; indusium reniform, sometimes caducous or absent.
