This subgenus includes several species, which are found from northern South America through the Amazon basin and to southeastern Brazil. The species are appparently nocturnal and pollinated by bats. The corollas are funnelform, and usually green or dull orange to red and have six or more lobes. See the discussion and key on the genus page for more information.
