Notas
:
Leaves rather small, often shorter than the spines; flowers pendulous; corolla funnelform, 10-15 cm long. creamy white to pale yellow; fruit yellow and large for the genus (2-5 cm diam.). This species is frequently cultivated. This species is similar to Catesbaea longispina, which is widespread in Cuba and differs apparently mainly by having smaller corollas; given the variation found in flower size in many nocturnally flowering Rubiaceae, within and among populations, these two species perhaps deserve further evaluation.
