Tree 5-20 m high, glabrous or nearly so; branches lenticellate, bark rough. Leaves 10 cm long, 5 cm broad, oblong-lanceolate, long-acuminate, glabrous, dark green and shining above, paler beneath, coriaceous, with domatia at the axils of nerves (sometimes not found on young leaves), base cuneate, margin slightly undulate; petiole 1-2 cm long. Flowers cream-coloured, in terminal or lateral compound trichotomous cymes. Calyx 4-toothed, c. 1 mm long, persistent. Corolla deeply divided, lobes valvate, elliptic, 1-2 mm long. Anthers large. Ovary glabrate. Drupe 1-1.5 cm long, 5-7 mm wide, ovoid, somewhat oblique, apex acute.
