Notes:
This species has a rather robust habit, elliptic to obovate or ovate leaves with well developed petioles, pedunculate cymose to racemiform inflorescences that are generally borne along the bare stems below the leaves, yellow corollas with apparently well developed tubes. It was described from a specimen in bud, and the proportional length of the tube and lobes is not clear. Hoffmannia lawrancei is similar to Hoffmannia killipiii of western Colombia and Ecuador, and Hoffmannia bernardii of western Venezuela.
