Annotation: The author annotated Purpus s.n. in 1905 (MO) as her new species. That specimen is the Type of Y. rostrata var. linearis Trel. The latter name was raised to species status as Y. linearis by D.J. Ferguson in Cactus and Succulent Journal 68: 130. 1996. Feguson's publication appeared a few months after Clary's thus Y. linearifolia remains legitimate.
