Prostrate to suberect, 3-15 cm tall, succulent, glabrous annual herb. Leaves with 1-5 cm long petiole; lamina somewhat oblique, ovate, 1.5-6.5 x 1-3 cm subcuneate at base, acute-acuminate, serrate, glabrous or glabrescent; stipules membranous, ovate-elliptic, 2.5-4 mm long, entire or serrate. Cluster of male and female flowers on upto 25 cm long filiform peduncle, 6-36 mm across. Flowers minutely pedicellate. Sepals in female, 3, unequal, larger one hooded, the others flat, 1.5-2.5 mm long; in male 4.5, c. 2.5 mm long acuminate. Achene ovoid-elliptic-ovoid, c. 1 mm long, light brown.
