Notes: This species is characterized by its somewhat slender habit (within Joosia), pedunculate, several-flowered, cymose inflorescences with the flowers pedicellate on dichotomous to shortly monochasial axes; rather well developed calyx limbs that are lobed for about half or more of their length with the lobes elliptic and obtuse to rounded; corollas with the tube 9-10 mm long; and capsules ca. 14-55 mm long. The inflorescences characteristically are congested when the buds form, and then develop short axes. This species is similar in general aspect to Joosia standleyana and Joosia aequatoria, both of which are found at higher elevations and have larger corollas.
Distribution: Wet forest vegetation on the eastern slopes of the Andes at 200-300 m in central Ecaudor.
