Annotation: This species name was validated by reference to Browne's description of the genus Macrocnemum, which was treated as a monotypic genus there and by Linnaeus but had no species named by Browne. The place of publication of Macrocnemum jamaicense has also been cited as "Pl. Jamaic. Pug. 31", and this is an alternate name for Fl. Jamaic., but that work has only 27 total pages. "P. 31" of this work has somehow sometimes been considered to correspond to p. 165 of Browne's work, where only the genus is described.
