Notas
:
This is one of several species, or a complex of species, with blue flowers that is found in upper montane forest in the northern Andes. Palicourea azurea is distinctive in several features such as its congested inflorescences and corollas that are externally densely pubescent; it is generally similar to Palicourea calycina, with longer calyx limbs, and to Palicourea cornigera, with appendaged corolla lobes; and also somewhat similar to Palicourea cyanantha of Colombia.
