This species is characterized by a tree habit, medium-sized leaves, short peduncles with several subcapitate flowers, and medium-sized fruits. The tertiary leaf venation is loosely reticulated and the quaternary venation lineolate. This species does not appear to produce spines. This species iis not well known, and its mature flowers are not yet documented. Chomelia rudis is similar to Chomelia brachypoda.
