Unarmed, perennial acaulescent or caulescent herbs. Leaves in basal rosettes or cauline on winged or unwinged petioles, pinnately dissected to almost entire, discolorous green above, cobwebby‒arachnoid above, rarely green on both sides, glabrescent below. Capitula solitary, terminal or arranged in compact clusters, campanulate subtended by linear spreading leafy bracts (involucel). Phyllaries 4‒5 seriate, outer ones often recurved. Receptacles with dense offwhite bristles. Florets many, violet to purple, corolla tube almost equalling to limb or somewhat shorter. Cypselas quadrangular, with 4 apical horns, dark brown to black, maculated, not crowned, without apical rim and umbo. Pappus uniseriate, silvery white to white, bristles unequal, long plumose, connate into a ring.

A small genus with three species, distributed in Central Asia and Western Himalayas (Pakistan and India), represented by two species in Pakistan.
