This species was known to Andersson only from the type, and was separated based on its subsessile, subcapitate to condensed-cymose inflorescences. Its flowers are rather large, and its ovary and calyx are densely tomentulose with the calyx limb rather short. It is still poorly known. It was compared to Ladenbergia shawistigma, with fewer smaller flowers, but Chilquillo et al. (2017).
