Notes:
This species is characterized by its stipules united around the stem into a tube with two groups of glands on each interpetiolar stide, its paniculiform inflorescences with the flowers sessile in a number of small heads or glomerules, its short calyx and small corolla, and its medium-sized fruits. Rudgea colombiana is generally similar to Rudgea sanmartensis, with the flowers all separated on dichasial axes, and to Rudgea grandifructa, with much more robust leaves and fruits.
