Notes: This species is characterised by elliptic, perhaps medium-sized leaves, terminal inflorecences with flowers on well developed pedicels, corollas with the tubes longer than the lobes, and subglobse fruits. It does not seem to be well known. Faramea australis appears to be similar to Faramea macra, Faramea diversifolia, and Faramea stenantha.
Distribution: Humid vegetation in southeastern Brazil (Rio de Janeiro).
