This species is characterized by its medium-sized stiff-textured leaves, multiflowered paniculiform inflorescences, subsessile to pedicellate 5-merous flowers, rather small white to pale green corollas with the tube 7-16 mm long, and somewhat small cylindrical fruits. It is similar to Ferdinandusa chlorantha, Ferdinandusa sprucei, Ferdinandusa rudgeoides, and Ferdinandusa uaupensis. Anunciação (2004) was not able to separate varieties within this species.
