Notas : This species is characterized by medium-sized petiolate elliptic leaves, shortly cymose inflorescences that are axillary at nodes below the leaves, bright red corollas with tube ca. 0.8 cm long, and purple-black fruits. Ixora agostiniana is similar in particular to Ixora ferrea, with white to dull pink corollas and usually more compact inflorescences. Ixora agostiniana is also similar to Ixora nicaraguensis of Central America, with terminal inflorescences.
Distribución : In wet forest in northeastern Venezuela (Sucre).
