Notas
:
This species is characterized by its well developed oblanceolate leaves, inflorescences with reduced bracts and short involucels, shortly pedicellate flowers, lobed short calyx limbs, red corollas with tubes 32-33 mm long and the lobes 8-9 mm long. It is apparently known only from the type. Cortés-Ballén notes that it is generally simlar to Retiniphyllum chloranthum and Retiniphyllum concolor, but differs from those in its red (rather than white to pink) corollas with the lobes ca. 1/4 as long as the tube (rather than ca. half as long). The type was collected along the Rio Uaupes near its junction with the Rio Negro.
