This species is characterized by its rather robust habit, well developed triangular stipules that are lacerate along the margins, petiolate well developed leaves, and shortly pedunculate inflorescences with the flowers subesssile in one to several small heads. This species is similar to Rudgea cardonae and Rudgea longiflora.
