This species is characterized by its medium-sized leaves, stipules with truncate sheaths and triangular lobes, pedunculate corymbiform inflorescences, and tubular-funnelform corollas that are pubescent externally. It is generally similar to Palicourea croceoides, Palicourea herzogii, and Palicourea rudgeoides.
