General notes: This species has been recognized under the name Daphne composita in severable notable treatments (e.g., Ding Hou, 1960; Hô, 1992; Peterson, 1997).

The precise type locality of D. involucrata Wall. (M.R. Smith s.n.) is unclear, but it may have been collected within the modern day boundaries of Bangladesh or India.
