Annotation: as "heteromalla"; "-malla" is here interpreted as a Latinized adjectival ending based on the Greek "Mallos" (= "flock of wool," according to Botanical Latin) and thus corrected to "-mallum" (because genus name is neuter)

Type-Protologue

Locality: Introduced from the Brazils in 1819. The drawing was taken at the garden of the Horticultural Society, Hammersmith, where the plant is cultivated at the stove.
